July Glossybox Product Reviews

Have I mentioned how much I like this box? I REALLY do. I wish I would have known about these subscription boxes back before I was laid off! These would have been awesome to brighten up my day/week/month whilst I was suffering under my boss. I have a few that I am subscribed to now. My first sub box was Birchbox which is $10 a month and my first box (June) was pretty awesome. It had this full sized Stila bronzing serum that I use practically every day now as well as Staniac by theBalm which is a lip and cheek tint that I use all the time as well. My second one (July) was not that fantastic, but I did have a black liquid eyeliner in it which was convenient because I was going to go buy oneanyway. It also had this amazing hair mask by Amika  that I totally fell in love with. The sample was big enough to use twice and both times my hair was silky smooth, like I had just left the salon, so I ended up buying it. I was going to cancel this box, but after someone putting it in perspective for me, I pay $10 and get at least one full sized item worth more than that amount so it does end up being an awesome deal even if you don't love everything in the box every month.
So this box led me to sign up for the Love With Food Box (which I have not received, August will be the first) and then the Glossybox. You would think that these would sate my need for fun, travel sample and full-sized things to try right? Nope. As I did more research I found the Eco Emi Box which is all eco-friendly products. I have been trying to go eco-friendly/green as of late (bought Tom's of Maine toothpaste instead of Crest recently lol) and then reading the story of why the box is called "Eco Emi" made me want to join. She named the box after her dog who got sick, and being a dog lover myself, it struck a chord. I sent an email so I can get on the waitlist for the box, but in the meantime I bought the bonus box for July and am anxiously awaiting that! (And there will be a nice long review on that!)

On to July's box!
  • Sebastian Color Ignite Multi Tone Shampoo & Sebastian Color Ignite Multi Tone Conditioner- well to start off, I do have color treated hair and so I was intrigued by these. I started with using about a dollop the size of a silver dollar (I have long hair) of the shampoo. After the first clean, there wasn't any lather so I decided to use another dollop- this did the trick. It smells just like shampoo, nothing special and not like anything specific. In fact, if you put Suave and Color Ignite in front of me in a blind smell test, I wouldn't know the difference. After a good cleaning, I got ready for the conditioner. The conditoner comes in a can, which I found odd, and looks like mousse when you put it in your hand. It did not have a pleasant smell when coming out of the can, but after I applied the instructed "tennis ball sized" amount and waited over 3 mins, it smelled a lot better being rinsed out. Over all, my hair felt like straw after the shampoo but after the conditioner it was nice and smooth. After blow dryin my hair had amazing volume and body which was a surpise. I did not notice my color being any more "ignited" though.

  • Pedix Heel Rescue Balm- I put this on the night I opened my box and slipped spa socks on over top. This has a nice, clean, light-minty scent, it easily rubs in and on the first morning after I used it, it had fair results. I am not sure if this is an awesome product, as I am comparing it to butter London Stiletto Stick. Yeah yeah, it is $30, but it smells amazing, you don't have to use your hands to rub it in, just rubbing it on your feet feels like a massage, and when you wake up the next day your feet are like a baby's ass. I don't think any balm in a tube will be replacing that any time soon..........

  • Figs & Rouge Lip, Face & Body Balm- I was really excited for this! It is organic and multi use which I love, pocket sized, and smells lightly of roses. I tried this on my lips first. As a lip balm it was nice and slippery, but the slip did not last that long. My lips were very soft after it wore off which was nice. This will be nice to carry around for dry cuticles and elbows and the tiny tin is very cute. The only thing I am worried about is it leaking (as when I got it out of the mail it had all melted to one side) so I think I will keep it in a snack bag.
  • Senna Cosmetics Mineral Eyes Shadow Trio in "Satin Doll"- I was very excited to see this. It has 3 neutral shades (of which I have few) in a nice little compact. I decided to try this on a day I was going to volunteer at the hospital. I included a picture of how I wore it that day (I went easy on the darkest brown) and I paired it with MAC eyeliner in Coffee and Bad Gal Lash in plum. Not only was the shadow in very complimentary colors for my skin tone, but the plum mascara looked fabulous with it! I received a ton of compliments so I am going to be using this for my neutral look from now on.

  • Blushed Fragrance sample- this little packette looks a little beat up, but smells pretty good through the packaging. It comes on a little towelette in the packet and is very spicy and exotic smelling. The vanilla and currants are the first notes and the strongest, but the more you smell it the more you can pick up on the lemon and ginger notes. I think this would be a great perfume for Fall or Winter since it is so strong, so I think I will tape it closed and save it until it starts to get cold out.
Well there it is! The July Glossybox. I can't wait until next month's :)
Jenn
