Ipsy Glam Bag- June 2013

June's Ipsy Glam Bag is here and I couldn't wait to see what they included for their "On The Wild Side" theme.

I love the cosmetic bag for this month! It is one of my top favorites to date :)

Psssst! Instant Dry Shampoo- I love a good dry shampoo and have been using the Not Your Mother's Clean Freak which I really like (because it works and its affordable). This claims to be the original so I was very excited to try it!
Post-Trial: I spritzed this stuff in my hair when I was rushing to get ready to go to a Drag Show (it was awesome by the way!) and I was pleased that it did not have a white-powdery finish to it that I had to make sure I massaged out, but it still left my just as oily which was disappointing.  I won't count it out yet and I will give it another try to see if it was just because it was the first use of the can....we shall see.

NYX Cream Blush in "Orange"- I was a bit afraid of this color when I first looked at it, but after applying it very sparingly to the apples of my cheeks I fell in love with it! It is straight-up orange in color, it is very creamy and blends nicely, it does not leave a sticky finish, and it stays all day! I am thinking about trying this in other colors because it goes on so nicely.

StarLooks Lip Pencil in "Tipsy"- This ended up being brighter than I thought it would be. It went on really smooth with no feathering though! I ended up pairing it with the lipstick that was in this month's Glossybox and it looked fantastic! I am not much of a lipstick person, but under the lipstick this looked more natural.

J. Cats Sparkling Cream Palette- I was so excited when I first saw this! Allllll the gllllllitttttttterrrrrr!  However, when I tried to apply it, it ended up having the consistency of cheap children's make up .....and it looked like it too. The glitter is not concentrated enough so it ends up clumping and looking like bad Halloween make up. I was so disappointed. I am going to continue playing with it to see if I can get it to work better with different applicators or if I need to apply it in layers or something....wish me luck!

Cailyn Liquid Eyeliner Set in Purple- Can I just say how I love having the pot and the brush for my eyeliner all together??? It's awesome! The cream liner is a flattering dark purple and it goes on very smooth with no clumping or catching. The brush is soft and makes applying this liner really simple. I am sold on this little gem and will be looking for it in other colors!

And there is June's Ipsy Glam Bag! I still maintain that for $10 a month this subscription rocks! And is totally worth it :)

Costal.com Free Glasses Review

So, you might have seen advertisements on facebook for Coastal.com and the "firstpairfree" offer.......well I gave it a try because I needed a new Rx for my glasses and I did not want to shell out an arm and a leg for glasses.

Now, I worked for Lenscrafters for 4 years as an apprentice optician, so I am a bit of a glasses snob and I really did not expect much from this free pair.
The frames that are available for free are not name brand, but they are actually very trendy and cute. After browsing the site for over 30 minutes, I finally decided on the Derek Cardigan 7008 Fog glasses. They are plastic frames with spring hinges and all the information on the frames was clearly laid out in the product info. They give you the option to see the frames on a bunch of different face shapes which was very helpful.
I have to say I was a little worried about them fitting over my big ol' head, but they do allow you to return your order even if they were a free pair.

After using the "firstpairfree" discount code, all I had to do was pay for shipping which came to $9.95. I believe it took about a week and a half to receive my order and I was really excited to see how nicely everything was packed!
They even included a nice hard case and a little kit which included cleaning solution, a microfiber cloth and a key chain with screwdriver.

Admittedly they are not the highest quality of frames, but they do the job of holding the lenses! And they really look adorable. I was shocked that they fit as well as they did and just needed minor adjusting on the temples to get them to fit like a glove. The lenses have anti-reflective coating on both the front and the back, which was a huge shocker since I thought there would be none since they are free plastic lenses. After wearing them for about a week I have no complaints. The Rx is working great and I am getting fewer headaches so I am guessing they got it right :P

Ignore my expression in this picture (it has been really rough at work) but do not ignore how well the glasses fit! I get tons of compliments on them and they are so different from what everyone is wearing that I love wearing them as an accessory.

These were definitely worth the cost of shipping and even though I did end up getting a pair of Michael Kors frames (which I love as well) these are an awesome back up pair if nothing else!

I have already referred several friends to Coastal.com to get a pair of glasses. I am excited to see what they think :)

Fancy Box- June 2013

June's Fancy Box is in and I could not wait to see what was in side this month's fun, yellow box!

Here are all the product cards from this month. I did not include one (by mistake) but it was just a discount card for some kind of shoes that I was not interested in. I am debating putting the Fancy Popsicle sticker on my car....can't make up my mind just yet.

Very Fancy T-shirt- this is going to look bad-ass once I cut off the sleeves and maybe tie up the sides. Awesome gym shirt for sure!

Lomo Camera and Film- Oh now this is cool. I may have to document either the rest of my summer or the beginning of my radiology school with this little guy! And of course frame all the pictures and make a cool collage in my room :)

45 degree Tilt Mug- This adorable little mug sits on an angle and has this little filter to put loose tea or coffee in while you pour in hot water. What a nifty little idea.

Kikkerland Bamboo Paper Straws- These are so adorable! And biodegradable :) I can't wait to try them out with all my fun summer drinks!

This month's box was not as awesome as past month's, but the camera is pretty cool, I can always use a new gym t-shirt, and who doesn't like having an extra mug and cute straws around? Maybe for August or September they will have cool "back to school" themed products.

Glossybox- June 2013

There was a lot of hype for June's Glossybox featuring Dallas Shaw as an American beauty.... I have one question: Who is Dallas Shaw? Lol

Here she is on the cover of their Glossy Mag. After browsing this little gem (which takes all of 30 seconds) I learned that she is an "It Girl" illustrator.

She drew this adorable girl on the top of the Glossbox and insert this month. I love it :)  I will have to think of something to store in this box so I can keep it out on my dresser.

Now it is time for all the goodies......yey!

tarte Complexion Enhancing Lipstick- I was not too jazzed about getting a lipstick (I am more of a gloss girl) but I grabbed the liner from this month's Ipsy Glam Bag and used it with this lipstick and I was actually impressed! The ladies at work said it was a nice light color that as not overpowering and I really liked how there is red in the middle surrounded by the nude so it makes a nice shadowing on your lips when you apply it. It has a nice creamy feel to it and from what I can tell it lasted for a relatively long time before it wore off.

This picture does not do the finish justice, but you can see how it is a more natural color that just enhances what is already there. This lipstick might have changed my opinion of lipsticks.....

Sparitual Nail Polish- I have received a mini red polish and a mini green polish in my Yuzen boxes of Sparitual polish and I really liked both the colors and the polish...but pumpkin orange? I'm sorry "clay creme"? I am not too sure about this color. When I don't have a fresh mani and pedi, I will give this color a try. Worst that can happen is that I hate it and I have another candidate to mix eyeshadow into!

c. Booth Honey Almond Nourishing Dry Oil Mist- I am head-over-heels in love with this spray! It smells delicious, is light and moisturizing without being greasy and it just felt fantastic all day! It is also reasonably priced, and now that I am going to school that is kind of important :P

Philip B. Styling Gel- I am never really sure how to use gel in my long hair. I put about a quarter size of this in my palms and ran it through my hair along with some other products and blew it all out straight. I can't say that I noticed any of the "revitalizing, cooling, or refreshing" sensations it claims to give. I think I am going to try it next time when I let my hair do its curly natural thing and see if I notice any difference. I did smell pretty good and it did not feel sticky, so those are 2 pretty good indicators for me that it is a decent product line!

Oscar de la Renta Essential Luxuries- This little navy blue satchel has 6 samples of scents that have been inspired by things that Oscar loves. I tried the Oriental Lace and loved it, the pump on my Santo is not working so I may have to dismantle it to sample it, but over all they are all very feminine and sexy scents.

I don't think I have ever tried anything in a box with in 2 days of receiving it before! I think Dallas Shaw curated a fantastic box and I loved the majority of the products in it. I would love it if they let her do it again!
